Education work

We at Just Change believe that education and sharing experiences are very important because we are trying to bring together communities in a new kind of trading relationship. To do this, we need to investigate the inequalities and injustices of the global economy and how we can work together to overcome them.

Just Change is the story of a practical and radical response to poverty and the constant pressures on the adivasi's lives and culture. We hope it can inpsire people to believe that there are other ways to trade in a fair and mutually beneficial way.

We have various resources that can be used by teachers and other educators. in 2009 Stan and Mari wrote a case study of Just Change, its roots and its development for a university textbook. Click here to read it.

Our short film is also being used by several secondary school geography teachers in the Midlands as a way of discussing fair trade and globalisation. Please contact london@justchangeuk.org for a copy of 'a New Leaf' on DVD.

We have also worked with ActionAid to produce a teaching pack for primary schools called 'The Chembakolli tea pack' which tells the story of the adivasis and how they set up Just Change. It has proved enormously popoular and is used by schools across the UK, plus it is now offered as an interactive workshop. You can find out more at ActionAid's website.

If you are interested in bringing the story of Just Change to your school, please get in contact with your local group.
